On Wednesday, July 20, when he was reviewing the Committee for Verification, Scrutinization, and Clean-up of the State Payroll’s report, Akeredolu issued the directive.
Although the precise number of affected employees was not made public, Governor Akeredolu also gave a directive to all state parastatals, ministries, and departments to halt all recruitment efforts until the salary verification committee has completed its work.
“We have over-bloated workforce, and undoubtedly, I am sure there are many ghost workers. Those who are receiving double salaries, apart from recovering the money from them, I am directing the Head of Service to get them dismissed. They must serve as deterrent to others.”
In other news, Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun state is looking to hire no fewer than 50 attorneys, including senior advocates, to dispute the outcome of the just-ended elections.
Recall that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Ademola Adeleke won the state governorship election that took place last Saturday, July 16.
The governor’s attorney, Kunle Adegoke, revealed this in an interview with Punch. He claimed that the legal team and he was still examining the outcomes announced by INEC.
